Nautical Night 2026
Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for an evening of fun and philanthropy at the 5th annual Nautical Night! This annual fundraiser has become a favorite summer tradition and a wonderful way to support the museum’s year-round work and this year is extra special as we celebrate the museum’s 20th Anniversary. Find out more »Youth Model Boat Building Class
Kids can get their feet wet in the time-honored tradition of model boat building in this class. We’ll be using beginner level model boat kits geared towards kids ages 10 & up. Please note your child will be using the following tools: • Hammer • Sandpaper • Paint • Straight pin • Needle nose pliers • Glue • Craft knife • Fine point permanent marker Register here through Alexandria Community Education.

A fun and new creative program this summer from the Legacy of the Lakes Museum. Captain’s Quarters will take place Wednesdays* through August in the BoatHouse from 10 am-11 am. This craft and hands-on learning filled hour is perfect for pre-school to second grade aged children and is free, with no registration required! *There will be no Captain’s Quarters on June 24, July 1, July 15, and July 22.

Mark your calendars for a special edition of Music in the Gardens, a throwback to Boats, Blues, and BBQ. Before there even was the Legacy Gardens, we were rocking it out on the museum campus. Kids won’t be running around in circles after this class. Participants will learn about the ways people navigated over time, both on land and water, and DIY their own compasses. Finally, the class will go on a compass scavenger hunt around the museum. Pre-registration is required. Register here through Alexandria Community Education.
