Le Homme Dieu Paddle Excursion
We're partnering with Douglas County Parks and Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center to provide a paddle excursion on Lake Le Homme Dieu on August 17! It's the perfect chance to get out and paddle, see the lake, and learn a little lake history along the way. There are two time slots available, 6-7 pm and 7-8 pm. During Thanksgiving week, 1905, the Mataafa Storm swept over Lake Superior, damaging or destroying 29 ships, claiming dozens of lives, and causing millions of dollars in damages. Join us Monday, September 19th at the Legacy of the Lakes BoatHouse as Tim Schoonhoven presents on the Alexandria Nature Trail. He is lead engineer working with the Nature Conservancy to preserve and protect a corridor from I-94 to Lake Le’ Homme Dieu. The trail will provide for water runoff management as well as provide for public use of a nature trail.
