An Evening with Dave Hage
Join us for a conversation with journalist Dave Hage about the history, loss and remarkable resilience of North America's prairie. Drawing from Sea of Grass, Hage will share the story of an ecosystem that once stretched across the continent and the people working to restore it. A fun and new creative program this summer from the Legacy of the Lakes Museum. Captain’s Quarters will take place Wednesdays* through August in the BoatHouse from 10 am-11 am. This craft and hands-on learning filled hour is perfect for pre-school to second grade aged children and is free, with no registration required! *There will be no Captain’s Quarters on June 24, July 1, July 15, and July 22.

Painting in the Garden
Let your creativity come to life in the beautiful Legacy Gardens at the Legacy of the Lakes Museum. Kids can take inspiration from the beautiful plantings, trees, and water and create thier very own masterpiece. Kids will be working with acrylic paints, so please wear appropriate clothing. Join us in the BoatHouse on Thursday, September 10th at 6:30 pm for a free presentation on the contributions small watercraft have made to building up the United States and defending freedom. This talk will travel through history, starting with the Revolutionary War.

Come to the museum on Halloween for a unique and completely free trick-or-treat experience. Kids in costume travel from boat to boat inside the museum, collecting candy from costumed volunteers. Part of the Downtown Alexandria Halloween Event!
