fishing-1245979_1920

In partnership with the Douglas County Lakes Association, we present an educational program on the state of fishing led by Area Fisheries Supervisor, Dean Beck. This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

About the presenter: Dean is wrapping up a 30+ year tenure with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Section of Fisheries, where he serves as the Glenwood Area Fisheries Supervisor. The Glenwood Fisheries Management Area encompasses Douglas, Grant, Pope, and Stevens Counties & Lake Osakis. Dean and his staff of four Fisheries Specialists, one Fisheries Technician, and an Office and Administrative Assistant are charged with maintaining healthy fish communities and diverse, quality fishing opportunities within 82 lakes with public access and 180 miles of streams. These waters include popular fishing destinations such as the Alexandria Chain of Lakes, Chippewa, Ida, Mary, Miltona, Minnewaska, Osakis and Reno lakes. He remains excited about the wealth of fisheries resources in west-central Minnesota and his role and opportunities to support an estimated 24.4 million fishing days, $3.6 billion dollars of in annual expenditures directed at fishing, and 55,000 jobs across Minnesota.
