Life on the Ice – Winter Education Program

Family ice fishing

Learn how to not only survive, but embrace our winter months from local experts. Topics presented at this event will be basic ice safety, the joys of winter camping, and historic tactics to surviving the cold. Presenters include: Wilderness Inquiry, local DNR conservation officer Mitchell Lawler, and Jack Driscoll.

Fee: $9 individual, $18 family, FREE for museum members

Van Gooch and Claudine Groove from the Evansville Photoclub will share tips and techniques on how to take photos in natural settings. This session will include time in the classroom and time in the Legacy Gardens. Participants should bring their own cameras. Maximum class size: 15

“For Love of Lakes” Book Talk

“We say we love our lakes, yet we not only allow but also participate in their deterioration.” Author Darby Nelson will lead a book talk that explores this paradox and addresses lake natural history that is largely hidden from view. “For Love of Lakes” was a finalist in the 2012 Minnesota Book Awards.
