Minnesota has been home to skilled watercraft builders since Native Americans first fashioned dugout and birch bark canoes hundreds of years ago. The museum boasts a complete collection of Minnesota-made boats from Alumacraft to Larson to our own Alexandria Boat Works.
Alexandria Boat Works Research Project
The Legacy of the Lakes Museum contracted Blondo Consulting to complete a research project into the history of local Alexandria, MN boat works, Alexandria Boat Works. The research conducted will be used to expand an existing exhibit on the history of the boat works and boat building in Minnesota. Click the link below to read the final research report!

This project was completed using grant funds from the Clean Water, Land, & Legacy Amendment. The Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund have made this project possible through the vote of Minnesotans on November 4, 2008. Administered by the Minnesota Historical Society.
