DESCRIPTION:Maritime Heritage Minnesota'a Ann Merriman and Christopher Olson will detail their findings from side and down imaging sonar surveys\, underwater archaeological dive reconnaissance projects\, Minnesota small craft and dugout canoe studies\, and log books digitization.\n\nTogether\, Merriman and Olson co-founded Maritime Heritage Minnesota (MHM) in 2005 in St. Paul\, an organization that is dedicated to the documentation\, preservation\, conservation\, and when necessary\, the excavation of Minnesota’s finite maritime and nautical archaeological resources - within a not-for-profit paradigm - where the best interest of the submerged cultural resources is paramount. Merriman and Olson are the only Underwater/Nautical Archaeologists and Maritime Historians working in Minnesota and licensed with the Office of the State Archaeologist. MHM conducts sonar surveys of the state's lakes and rivers\, archaeological dive reconnaissance\, maritime terrestrial excavation/documentation\, rare Minnesota small watercraft studies including 3D scanning\, dugout canoe analysis and radiocarbon dating\, and the digitization of primary maritime and naval documents.\n\nThis event is free to the public and presented via Zoom.
